# Install

Karagöz is not on npm yet, so build it from source and put karagoz on your PATH.

## From source

Not on npm yet. You need Node 22 or newer, and for each target what [Requirements](https://karagozmcp.com/docs/requirements/) lists.

```console title="~/app"
$ git clone https://github.com/yagizdo/karagoz-mcp.git
$ cd karagoz-mcp
$ npm install
$ npm run build
$ cd packages/karagoz
$ npm link
```

`npm run build` writes `packages/karagoz/dist/`. `npm link`, run in `packages/karagoz`, puts `karagoz` on your `PATH`. The examples on this site use `karagoz`; without the link, run `node packages/karagoz/dist/cli.js` from the clone instead.

[Getting started](https://karagozmcp.com/docs/getting-started/) runs your first commands.

To work on Karagöz itself: [Development](https://github.com/yagizdo/karagoz-mcp/blob/main/docs/development.md), the build, checks and smoke scripts.
